Any movie built on the premise that chocolate can cure mental illness, restore marital passion, unite feuding relatives, assuage anger, defeat oppression, inspire art and get you a date with Johnny Depp is all right in my book.

This charming romantic fantasy, made in 2001, features delicious performances by Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench and of course, the ever-inventive Johnny Depp, whose gypsy role seems perfectly suited. Nominated for five Academy Awards.
