Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the Met is planning to re-open its stage with a gala event December 31, 2020 and to deliver seven live opera events to cinemas in 2021. At present, this plan remains unchanged.
For the remainder of calendar year 2020, the Met has created a bank of encore titles for cinemas to present on a more flexible schedule (now through the end of December). These titles include: CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA/PAGLIACCI, DON PASQUALE, LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, RIGOLETTO, THE MAGIC FLUTE, IL TROVATORE, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, TOSCA and TURANDOT. Each of the titles will be presented with 10-minute intermission breaks (except for FLUTE which does not have an intermission). At this time the Lincoln has not determined a schedule for these performances.
The Met’s 2020-21 season of Live in HD movie-theater transmissions will resume with seven live productions beginning January 16 with DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE. For the 2021 planned live events on-sale dates have not yet been determinded but will in any event be after September 1, 2020, however noting that the date is subject to change
