A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION - LIVE! IN HD will feature legendary English singer-songwriter Elvis Costello, sibling vocal powerhouses Jearlyn and Jevetta Steele, songstress Heather Masse (who will be performing at the Lincoln Theatre live with her group The Wailin' Jennies this April), and the finest folk duo around, Robin and Linda Williams.
Also with us, The Royal Academy of Radio Actors; Sue Scott and Tim Russell, with both Tom Keith AND Fred Newman creating sound effects mayhem. All this, plus a punched-up Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, and of course, The News from Lake Wobegon. Two hours of non-stop fun (well, there'll be a brief intermission) on the big screen.
For more than 35 years, legions of fans have tuned in to Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion to be entertained by his low-key reflections, sharp insights, and trademark humor. Each week, A Prairie Home Companion is heard by more than 4 million listeners of every age, on more than 600 public radio stations across the country. The show is performed live on stage in front of an audience. There has been plenty of adventure in the past 30-plus years, including broadcasts from Canada, Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany, Iceland, and almost every one of the 50 states. And there have been wonderful guest performers, little-known and world-renowned, who've brought the audience to their feet.
In a first for the show, on Thursday, February 4th, 2010, a performance of A Prairie Home Companion at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, will be broadcast live in high-definition exclusively to movie theaters across the U.S. and Canada. This special two-hour presentation begins 7 p.m. Central, 8 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. Mountain, and tape delayed for showing at 8 p.m. Pacific. An encore of the program will run on Tuesday, February 9th, 2010. Tickets are on sale December 11 at participating theaters including the Historic Lincoln Theatre!
