Position Description: Intern, Skagit Theatre Camp

Do you enjoy theatre? Do you enjoy working with kids? Skagit Theatre Camp is looking for YOU!

Summer theatre interns will gain hands-on experience working for the Historic Lincoln Theatre Summer Camp Program. Over two weeks in July (18-30) interns will have the opportunity to assist and support the camp directors teaching choreography, singing and acting on the Lincoln Theatre stage. Interns will guide young campers in improvised games, activities and explore disciplines of stage craft. Interns will help the Camp Directors build a musical production of Jungle Book, Kids at the end of the two-week program. You will work side by side with professional stage directors, have fun, and build new friendships with young people while working on a musical performance. 

We are looking for young mature artists that have enthusiasm for performing, years of experience in the theatre, music and/or art, the ability to be a positive role model and mentor a small group of children, and have a great time working with kids. College students are encouraged to apply, but if you are a mature high school student, we would enjoy seeing your resume.

Intern responsibilities:

  • Model good behavior and engagement. Serve as a mentor and role model.
  • Assist the director in set up and daily theatre exercises and improvisation games.
  • Help students with character, acting technique, choreography, lines, music, and memorization.
  • Oversight of small pods of students, breaking into groups.
  • Make sure campers are following the rules and work with the director to engage students in the content of the class.
  • Assist managing and implementing props and costumes and sets.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Experience with arts and crafts a plus (i.e. prop making, mask making, hot gluing, sewing a plus.)
  • Punctuality and positive attitude. Promoting a positive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior in High School with experience in Drama/Theatre or art.
  • A working knowledge of and area of theatre, from technical theater to choreography and/or acting.
  • Experience coordinating and supervising.
  • Experience teaching the arts or activities to young people.

Job Types: Contract, Positions open until filled.

Pay: $300

Dates:  Camp will be held July 18 - 30, 2022, from 10:00am - 3:00pm at the Historic Lincoln Theatre. Community Performances will be Saturday, July 30th at 10:00 am and 12:00 noon.

Schedule:

  • 6-7 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday, and preparation the week prior to camp
