Snorkeling is an authentic coming-of-age film about love, addiction, and mental health.

All of us -- especially young people -- fear loneliness and isolation. Teenagers Michael (Daniel Zolghadri) and Jameson (Kristine Froseth) explore these haunting subjects together. As their romance blossoms, a new hallucinogenic street drug called "snorkeling" concocts a fantasy where the user feels invincible. They can interact with the world without fear or inhibition -- a true out-of-body experience.

When taking a drug this powerful, what are the possibilities -- and the dangers? Through his trippy, colorful recreation of the euphoria and tragedy of drug dependency, director Emil Nava takes us on a unique journey of adolescent self-discovery.

Introducing the film and hosting a Q&A afterward is Skagit County native and the writer of Snorkeling, Jack Follman.

Jack Follman was born and raised in Skagit County -- Clear Lake to be exact. Some of his earliest memories of art are from attending live theater and films at the Lincoln Theatre. His local ties run deep: both of his grandparents, Harry and Harriett, graduated from Mount Vernon High School, and his grandfather Harry went on to serve as a Skagit County Superior Court Judge for two decades. Jack's father, Jay, also a Mount Vernon native, passed along his passion for storytelling --especially about the region -- which helped inspire Jack's own path as a writer.

In 2014, Jack was hired as a featured short story writer for Thought Catalog / Creepy Catalog, where his horror and thriller fiction reached millions of readers worldwide. His story "Snorkeling" drew over 2 million views online before being sold. In 2023, his story "It's Over" was sold at auction to Sony Pictures for feature development. Over the years, many of his stories have been optioned for film and television, and he has been commissioned multiple times to develop original screenplays and series.
After more than a decade living and working in Los Angeles, Jack returned to his roots in 2021. He now lives in Clear Lake with his girlfriend, Alice, and what he admits are "too many pets."
